Abstract

The patients with the diastema and anterior spacing often complain cosmetic and speeching problems. Such problems influence the development of the characteristic with the complex and shame.
Recently, the number of those patients is increasing. There are many etiologies of spacing which have not only local factors like abnormal swallowing and tongue thrusting habits. If the dentists do not have a idea about the reason of spacing, it is sometimes difficult to determining the treatment and method. If the spacing are related to abnormal tongue habits and the treatment are finished still the habits are not corrected, the relapse would be happened easily.
There are a lot of treatment methods which have orthodontic, operative resin building, surgical and prosthetic treatment. They are used by itself or by combined approach. After the teeth were level and well aligned by orthodontic movement, resin bonding, porcelain laminated veneer or porcelain fused to crown will be one of the excellent camouflage and they have excellent cosmetic effects.
We reviewed the etiologies of spacing, advantage and disadvantage of each methods and case report.
